Ah, but can it withstand watermelon?? Now here's a fun experiment for some months-long stretch of boredom. I had a half a watermelon sitting on a plate in the fridge (ala mom) and left it there, and left it there, and left it there. One day there's a puddle of yellowish goo sitting at the base of my fridge, with a funk like you can't imagine, and creeping its way across the floor to reach around my ankles and yank me back into the cold darkness from which it came. Yah, that watermelon damn near grew legs and walked out. Let me tell you, explaining THAT to a date would make for one unpleasant and awkward ordeal as I had ignored stages one and two of said migration from the top shelf of the fridge to the bottom and eventually out the door. eeeeyikes. Eat your heart out Mr. Wizard.
